NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK CELEBRATIONS -2024

In commemoration of late Sri. Iyyanki Venkata Ramanayya, "Architect of Public Library Movement in India", 57th National Library Week is celebrated in Vishnu Institute of Technology, Bhimavaram, on 14.11.2024. Dr. M.Venu (Principal) lit the Lamp and inaugurated the Library Week Celebrations. Various literary events were organized and prizes were distributed to the winners during the valedictory function on 20.11.2024.

Dr. M Venu (Principal) gave away the prizes to the winners. Vice Principal Prof. M Srilakshmi, Librarian Dr. Y.M.V. Naga Raja Rao and Deans, H.O.Ds, Teaching, Non Teaching Staff and students were present.

Program Objectives:

The primary objectives of conducting National Week Celebrations were as follows:
  • Honoring Sri Iyyanki Venkta Ramanayya: The primary objective is to pay tribute to Sri Iyyanki Venkata Ramanayya, "Architect of Public Library Movement in India" and his contributions to the field of Library and Information Science.
  • Promoting Library Services and Sources: The Celebrations serve as an opportunity to highlight the importance of Library Science and its role in preserving and disseminating knowledge
  • Raising Awareness: National Week Celebrations helps raise awareness about the role of Libraries in the Campus. It emphasizes hat libraries are not just repositories of books but also vital centers for learning, research and community engagement.
  • Professional Development: The celebrations often include seminars, workshops and conferences that focus on the latest trends and innovations in library and Information Science. These events offer opportunities for library professionals to enhance their skills and stay updated with the evolving information landscape.
  • Literary Events: National Library Week day celebrations often include literary events such as Debate, Pencil Sketch, Essay Writing, Toggle, and Group Discussion. These activities promote a love for literature and reading among people of all ages.
  • Book Exhibition: On the occasion of National Library Week day celebrations, a Mega Book Exhibition was organized at the Central Library of Vishnu Institute of Technology under the auspices of Campus Book Stall, Bhimavaram. The exhibition was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Mangam Venu, who explained the importance of book exhibitions. He encouraged students and staff to make use of this opportunity.
  • Digital literacy Promotion: With the increasing digitalization of information, libraries are also focusing on digital literacy initiatives. National Library Week can serve as a platform to promote digital literacy skills among library users. The Chief Guest: Dr. M Venu, Principal, Vishnu Institute of Technology (A), Bhimavaram.

Principal Dr. D. M Venu addressed the audience. The HODs of various departments, Deans, faculty and students were present.
